Off-Broadway theatres in New York City

The Lincoln Center Theater, for example, is an organization, which observes Lincoln Center founder John D. Rockefeller 3rd’s mandate that the arts are “not for the privileged few, but for the many.” The Lincoln Center Theater operates by  the motto, “Good Plays, Popular Prices.” So, they strive to keep the ticket prices low, while showing dazzling theatre plays.

Another famous Broadway Theatre is the Majestic Theatre, which is located on 245 West 44th Street or between Broadway and 8th Avenue.  It is one of the biggest Broadway theatres in New York and has 1,681 seats. It is no surprise that this theatre in New York City has been used to play some of the largest musical theatre productions like “The Phantom of the Opera”, which has been played in the Majestic Theatre since it opened on January 26, 1998. 

Lastly, the New Amsterdam Theater is located on 214 West 42nd Street or between 7th and 8th Avenues. Designed by the architecture firm of Henry Hertz and Hugh Tallant, the theatre played a number of Broadway shows and used to have a Roof Garden, which no longer exists. Now Broadway’s hit based on a Disney movie “Aladdin” plays in the New Amsterdam Theatre.
